Cooperation of the District of 安iebodzin with the District of Ostprignitz - Ruppin (Germany)
Trans-frontier cooperation is one of the strategic objectives in the district; development. Trans-frontier activities are controlled by cooperation agreements concluded with District of Ostprignitz-Ruppin (Germany) and District Stryj (Ukraine). Due to deep interests of the local entrepreneurs and tourists visiting our towns and tourist venues, this cooperation is focused mainly on the summer high season and the cyclical cultural and recreational events. In the recent period a comprehensive cooperation has been established between rural places in the partner district. Examples of this could be the agreements and joint initiatives of:
- Jemio堯w and Banzendorf
- ζg闚 and Buckow (Brandenburg)
- Lubrza and commune Burg (Germany)
- Zb御zynek and German Peitz
- 安iebodzin and Herzberg - Elster.
A further development has also occurred in the relations between Vocational Schools Centre of 安iebodzin and Oberstufenzentrum of District Ostprignitz-Ruppin. Student exchange visits, joint ventures and integrative meetings are among the most common forms of interaction
Among the effects of cooperation with overseas partners is the active participation of the latter in the ventures of the District of 安iebodzin which include:
- joint work on EU-financed projects (Interreg IIIA and C, Euroregion)
The Water Tourism Project within Interreg IIIC has contributed to numerous initiatives such as publication of: The Guide to Tourist Routes; brochure - The Pearls of 安iebodzin District; reissue of administrative and tourist map with a plan of the city. Working teams have been established to forward close cooperation with local actors. Partnership meeting have been hosted by the District of 安iebodzin and attended by visitors from Germany, Finland, Austria and Ireland, to name but a few. The aim of such partnership sessions is to present the tourist attractions and infrastructure of a given region, sharing best practices and defining further stages of project implementation.
- Participation of German partners in the key outdoor events organised by the District Governor Office
- Mutual material assistance for social welfare institutions and organisations effected through systematic campaigns to equip Welfare Homes, hospitals, associations of the handicapped, schools and social welfare centres.
Other spheres of interaction include: developing interpersonal contacts in the fields of economy, culture and education; striving for elimination of prejudices and stereotypes; a test of coexistence within the European Union; encouragement to learn foreign languages; establishing contacts between the schools of 安iebodzin and Ostprignitz-Ruppin districts; local entrepreneurs meeting their German counterparts to encourage economic cooperation; real business and investment proposals. Foreign cooperation, particularly with Germany, is the springboard to creating further joint marketing and investment programmes.
